The Saints
September 22, 2005
I've never written a review on a band before so forgive me if I use the wrong terminology to explain the effect this band has on me. I book bands to play in bars for a living and I hear a lot of different quality of sounds, some that I think might work for my area and some that I think “How the hell did they ever cut a C.D.”

This band I booked around five years ago to play at a local blues bar. I was very impressed with their sound and they seemed to have a great love for playing. Since then they have soared both in their skills (everyone knows girls love skills) and their stage presence. I will start with the horn section which is usually unimpressive to me because it is so difficult to have a powerful sound without wanting to turn it down. The horn section brings me back to the days when I listened to my big sisters 45's and danced around in my basement with my friends. We listened to everything from Elvis to Frank Sinatra.

The rhythms The Saints send out move my feet and make me want to dance around like an eight year old again without the cares of having white girl dance. Now we will move to the drummer he keeps a beat that will make your heart feel the snare drum. On to the guitar section, the way the base guitarist plucks the strings with just the right strength to make you want to stand next to him and watch his movements. Did I mention that he has the shapeliest arms I've ever seen on anyone in any band ever?

The person that really brings this band to the peek performance, blending the horns, drums and guitar to a most unusually satisfying sensation is the lead singer. His name is Levi and I must say he is one of the most pleasant people I've had a chance to meet in my entire life. He is tall dark and handsome, God fearing and music loving. Never have I heard him say anything that is not positive since the day I had the pleasure of meeting him. His stage presence is such a treat for anyone to see. The way that he moves and dances and at all times has a voice that lifts me up. I'm not talking about gospel lifts me up although he was a gospel singer in his church for many years. I am talking about making me forget any cares and getting me on my feet to try and keep up with his gyrating bones.

I hope that some time all of you can have the pleasure of seeing their performance and walk out of a place feeling like a kid again with positive thoughts and a spring in your step. Thanks guys you have really made an impact on my ears and sights.
