Anti Gangsta Rap album review
June 26, 2005
LOS ANGELES, CA - June 24, 2005 - In light of growing violence within
the Hip Hop world, and the pointless deaths of major rap stars Tupac
Shakur, Notorious B.I.G., Jam Master Jay and others, Future Austin, an underground rap star has had an epiphany.

The California based rapper has created a new movement with his website
http://www.KillGangstaRap.com , plus an upcoming feature film and a
newly released CD titled "KillGangstaRap.com. The album contains
clean, cutting edge and uplifting rap music that everyone can enjoy.

"Today, the top-selling rap albums celebrate violence, meaningless sex
and extreme materialism. Our kids are listening to this on a daily
basis," says the ex-gangsta rapper and father of three. "My little
girl wanted to listen to my last album and it was not something I
wanted her to hear. That was a major revelation in my life and I
immediately decided to turn my music around."

The KillGangstaRap.com CD has no profanity or explicit lyrics and
features production from the legendary George Clinton and Zaytoven,
one of Hip Hop's hot young producers. The CD is available exclusively
at http://www.killgangstarap.com

This was the Press release I received and I'm not sure whether it's Christian Rap or what, but the website is pretty funny. Future Austin, the “ex-gangsta rapper” is now praying and putting albums out that his little girl can listen to. Worth a look just to see what Rap Music might sound like without all the cursing, humping and blingin' on dubs.

I just don't see this as something that is going to take off because in my mind, Gangsta Rap is more of an expression of the artist's upbringing. Granted, most radio rappers these days aren't like the rappers that started the movement. In this day and age there are little-to-no Eazy E's, 2Pac's, or the true gangsters that started the industry. What ever happened to good ole' fashioned selling drugs to buy your own record company? Now we have this new wave of rappers that grew up middle class, went out and rented some ice, got some gold fronts, grabbed a cubic-zirconium encrusted goblet and have the audacity to start rapping about how rich they are before they finish their first album. I guess they are banking on the hope that their hiphop bravado will be enough to create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Check out Future Austin's KillGangstaRap.com for yourself and see if it's something that is worthwhile or something that will fall flat on it's face. To me it seems like contrived, diluted rap that leaves that unsettling taste in my mouth like when you add too much water to your Kool-Aid packet.
