MUSIC
Patty Loveless, Dreamin' My Dreams (Epic Nashville)
September 30, 2005
I like country music for one reason. The shit is sad and someone just lost their wife or girlfriend or the place just went to hell. Stereotype it anyway you want, but add some good lyrics to a steel guitar, followed by a banjo and a fiddle, throw in an organ and hand me a cold beer, I just found heaven! I like fast country music but I love the slow, there's a tear in my beer stuff. I cant get enough of it, my wife thinks I'm a crazy manic depressant but I love the stuff, the deeper the better.

When you think of Patty Loveless you think of good country music. Not the smoking hot little girls that are trying to woo the audiences of the pop/country scene, but more of that big sister feel that just has the voice that serenades you to sleep. Her new disc, Dreamin' my Dreams, hit stores on September 13 th and promises to be one of her best yet.

There are a few fast songs on it “Never Ending Song of Love” but she has Dwight Yoakam singing by her side so you can't complain. “Same Kind of Crazy”, another fast one on the disc was written by Delbert McClinton and Gary Nicholson and when sung by Loveless, she makes fast country seem fun. Delbert McClinton is one of the best song writers/singers that has walked this earth, it would be hard for him to sing a bad song, so having him write some music for her should have been an honor.

The song “My Old Friend the Blues” written by Steve Earle is by far one of the best songs I've heard in a while. Something about the sound of the mandolin gets me every time. Paired with Loveless' voice the song brings you to another place and it's a good place.

Go grab your self a case of beer, throw it in the ice chest and sit yourself down for some good ol' country music. Patty Loveless has put me in that place I like to be with this disc.
